Matthew Morrison Ready to Perform New Single on "Jaw-Dropping" Glee Finale

Tuesday's episode of Glee is special for star Matthew Morrison. Not only is it the season finale, but the episode is also going to feature him singing the new single from his new self-titled debut album. The song is called "Still Got Tonight," which Matthew says fits into the plot because it shows how his character, Mr. Schuester, is trying to decide if he should leave McKinley High for good to chase his dream of being a Broadway star.
Matthew tells ABC News Radio, "[Mr. Schue] is getting an opportunity from April Rhodes to be in her [Broadway] show, but he's torn because the kids have become so important to him and kind of fulfilling his agreement to you know, to see their dreams come true." Matt says he'll sing the song "alone in this theater, dancing a little bit," and adds, "It's just kind about kind of which road to choose."
Despite the song's inclusion in the show, Matt says his album in general doesn't really have anything to do with his Glee character -- it's his own personal musical vision, and he co-wrote several of the songs. He explains, "I wanted to do something that was not Mr. Schuester; that really kind of had some insight into me, and who I was and some of my stories, and for me it was just a great experiment."
In addition to Mr. Schue struggling with his choice, there are other things that happen in the finale that Morrison says will surprise viewers. He tells ABC News Radio, "It's gonna be emotionally satisfying...[but] I think it's gonna be kinda controversial too." When asked to elaborate, he would only say, "Everybody's making a big deal about [how] we shot it in New York and it was an expensive show to produce, but there some stuff in there that's really kind of jaw-dropping."
The Glee season finale airs Tuesday, May 24th, at 9 p.m. ET on Fox.
