The American Music Awards aired Sunday night and featured performances by Rihanna, Pink, Christina Aguilera, Ke$ha, Bon Jovi, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Usher, Justin Bieber, Santana with Gavin Rossdale, The Black Eyed Peas, Train, Enrique Ingesias, Kid Rock, Ne-Yo, Miley Cyrus and New Kids on the Block and The Backstreet Boys.

While many rocked color on the red carpet like Nicki Minaj, the best performances of the night also included lots of color.

However, other performances fell flat, like the one from Miley Cyrus.

Justin Bieber won big with four awards in every category that he was nominated, including Favorite Pop Album, Breakthrough Artist of the Year, Favorite Pop/Rock Male Artist and Artist of the Year.  Bieber thanked Usher and invited him on stage when accepting the award for Artist of the Year.  At another point, he thanked Michael Jackson, saying, "Without Michael Jackson, none of us would be here."

It's important to note that the American Music Awards are fan-voted, and few artists these days have as big, as motivated or as tech-savvy a fanbase as the Bieb.  With six million Twitter followers and 15 million Facebook fans, Justin's multiple wins Sunday night were somewhat of a forgone conclusion.  After the show on Sunday night, he tweeted, "I LOVE MY FANS!  WE ARE PARTYIN' TONIGHT!!"

Other winners included The Black Eyed Peas, Rihanna, the British rock band Muse, country star Brad Paisley and Michael Buble, who was named Favorite Adult Contemporary Artist and announced at the podium, "God, I LOVE winning things!"  Also, the two leading nominees going into the awards -- Lady Antebellum and Eminem -- didn't go home empty-handed. Eminem, who didn't attend, won two awards off-camera, while Lady A won one award.
