Madagascar 3 Tops Box Office Again with $35.5 Million

It wasn’t a weekend box office for the ages.

Neither Rock of Ages nor the Adam Sandler comedy That’s My Boy debuted in one of the top two spots. Instead, the animated film Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted repeated as box office champ, earning an estimated 35.5 million dollars. Ridley Scott’s Prometheus was the runner-up, with 20.2 million.

Rock of Ages, an all-star adaptation of the hit musical, opened in third place, collecting 15.1 million dollars. That’s My Boy finished in fifth place, with 13 million.

Here are the top 10 movies from Friday through Sunday, with estimated ticket sales:

1. Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted, $35.5 million.
