Predictions for the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards

The 2011 MTV Video Music Awards air on Sunday, August 28, and it's impossible to say exactly what will happen.  While last year's show got sleepy reviews with the exception of Lady Gaga's meat dress, this year something epic is likely to go down.  Here are a few predictions for what could happen on the most unpredictable award show there is.

Katy Perry Will Win Big

This year, it might be Lady Gaga interrupting Katy Perry's acceptance speech.  Katy has 10 nominations, more than any other artist .  Her video for "Firework," which is nominated for Video of the Year, will surely cause a bang.

Britney Spears Will Kiss Someone

A tribute for Britney Spears is on the bill and will include Lady Gaga and Katy Perry.  While no details have been released, it's likely that Britney will take the stage during the performance.  Brit played the kissing card with Rihanna at the Billboard Awards earlier this year, so it wouldn't be a shocker if she planted a smooch on Katy and liked it.

Lady Gaga Will Have a Wardrobe "Malfunction"

Lady Gaga is the show opener, and what better way to start the VMAs than with a nip slip.  The latest promo for Gaga's performance displays her taking her top off, so the audience may get to see a little skin.

The Jersey Shore Cast Will Cause a "Situation"

With the fourth season of the Jersey Shore underway in Italy, it's time to bring some fist pumping back to the U.S.  Maybe Deena will get tipsy and join the makeout party with Katy and Britney.  Perhaps Ronnie will punch Lil Wayne during his performance.  No one ever really knows with the Jersey Shore crew.

Someone Legendary Will Show Up

Last year, the surprise appearance was Cher, so who will it be this year?  With Pearl Jam's 20th Anniversary festival just around the corner, Eddie Vedder could take the stage.  Or maybe there will be a Steven Tyler/Jennifer Lopez duet to keep the American Idol hype fresh?
