Cee Lo Apologizes to Gay Voice Contestants after "Homophobic" Tweet
On Friday, Cee Lo Green responded to a negative review of his live show via Twitter by suggesting that the female critic who wrote the review was gay. That set off a firestorm which Cee Lo is still apologizing for -- but two people he went out of his way to explain himself to were the two gay members of his team on The Voice: Vicci Martinez and Nakia.
Vicci told the website SheWired.com that Cee Lo messaged both herself and Nakia "right away," and told them, "I just want you guys to know that this just came out and thats not how I feel. They are totally...blowing it [out of proportion], and I just want to apologize to you guys first." Vicci says Cee Lo added, "If you start hearing stuff, just know that I love you and thats just sometimes what happens in the business."
Further denying any sort of homophobia, Cee Lo told US Weekly magazine, "I most certainly am not harboring any sort of negative feeling toward the gay community...Im one of the most liberal artists that I think you will ever meet, and I pride myself on that."
