ALL THINGS GLEE

Glee, The Music: Vol. 5 Released; Warblers CD, Darren Criss Solo Disc Planned
Tuesday, March 8th, is a big day for Gleeks everywhere. Not only does the latest soundtrack album from Glee arrive in stores, but after taking a week off, the show itself returns on Fox...with Gwyneth Paltrow back as substitute teacher Holly Holliday. Among the songs performed on the episode, which is called "Sexy," are Prince's "Kiss," Fleetwood Mac's "Landslide," Joan Jett's "Do You Wanna Touch Me," Neon Trees' "Animal" and "Afternoon Delight" by one-hit wonders The Starland Vocal Band.
Some of those tracks can be found on Glee, The Music: Volume 5, along with other songs from this season and the show's first-ever original songs: "Loser Like Me" and "Get It Right." Darren Criss, who plays Blaine on the show, tells us that his favorite song on the new soundtrack is -- big surprise -- the one on which he sang. It's a cover of The Human League's "Don't You Want Me," which he performed with Lea Michele in the episode "Blame It on the Alcohol." He tells us, "It was my first time I got to [sing] with the McKinley kids, because typically, Blaine's scenes aren't involved with the main chunk of the cast...so [it] definitely was a special thing for me."
Darren also said that Gwyneth Paltrow is a great addition to the show. Though he was nervous about meeting her at first, he now feels more relaxed around her. He says, "She's a gem, and she knocks all her vocal performances out of the park, and she's just great. I'm so happy she's on the show. I hope she stays for a while." As for who he'd like as his dream guest star on Glee, Darren says, "I would just die and go to heaven if Christopher Walken could be Blaine's kooky uncle, grandfather or anything -- I don't care!"

Darren also says more Glee music is coming soon. In April, we can expect an album made up entirely of songs performed by the Dalton Academy Warblers, the group to which Blaine and Kurt belong. And he reveals that in about a year or a year-and-a-half, fans can expect an original album from him. Darren was working on one before Glee made him a star -- he says, "For scheduling reasons, it's been tough to work on [it]....[but] I think we can make something really great."
Finally, what about Blaine's relationship with Kurt? On the last Glee episode, Blaine wondered if he really, truly was gay -- and decided he was. Does that clear the way for him and Kurt to finally get together? Darren tells us, "I really don't know. It's developing little by little...I mean, personally, I think it would be really cool if they got together, but the writers know what they're doing and I trust them."
