Maroon 5's Adam Levine Joins "It Gets Better" Campaign
Maroon 5's Adam Levine is the latest star to create a video in support of the "It Gets Better" campaign. The campaign was started by writer Dan Savage in response to the rash of suicides among teenagers who were bullied due to their sexual orientation. Its goal is to prevent suicide by having famous adults, both gay and straight, assure teens that their lives will get better as they get older, even though things may seem bleak at the moment.
In his video, Adam agrees that he, too, hated high school, but tells kids, "If you can get through it, there is a whole world out there that exists beyond people treating you badly...there's a whole world beyond high school that is a lot better." Addressing to teens who are being bullied, he says, "Don't let them win....because it's such a terrible energy to spread." To kids who are struggling, Adam says, "We support you, and we really do love you. We've all been there before." He finishes by saying, "Human beings treating each other like human beings is the most important thing on earth. That's where it all starts. So we need to figure out how to do that."
Please note the use of the f-bomb and other language in the PSA.
